Playing Catch Up

Whew!  I haven't been here for a long time, and frankly, I've missed it.  So to catch up, here is the run down:

April 26-

My Very Good Friend, Lori, has a beautiful daughter named Danielle.  Danielle has been a surrogate sister to my daughters, being a great example to them, and also a support when it was needed the most.  On this day, I went to their house to make centerpieces for her wedding.  HER WEDDING!!  What!  Who said she could get married!  Well, she did.  Last Friday, little Danielle got married, and this weekend will be her reception.  Wow.  Time goes by.  I spent most of this day laughing and talking with Danielle and Lori, trying to decide what works best and how to get the look Lori was looking for.  Sorry, no pictures, you'll just have to come to the reception.  After I got done there, I went to my Very Good Friend, Janet, and helped her and her daughter Tanae quickly do some good luck presents for the dancers, who were heading out to competiton that weekend.  This didn't take long, and again, no picture.

I spent some time that evening, going to my sister's grave.  She died on April 27, 2005.  I was going to be gone on that day, so I took flowers to her grave on this day.  I still miss her, and my emotions were very close to the surface.  I spent the time at her grave cleaning around it, talking to her, discussing her children with her.  Some of the things I love about Cathy:

*Cathy was a very hard worker.  She had a job from the time she was 8 or 10, depending on who you talk to.

*She had a very strong personality, and when she believed in something, she would argue to the end to try and get you to see her point.

*She was an excellent seamstress.  I cannot tell you how many dresses we made, as well as craft projects.  She is the one who taught me to sew, which I'm very grateful for.

*She was an excellent cook.  She could make a great meal out of just about anything, and I always wanted to be around her when we were going to have to live off all that wheat we had in our food storage.  She would know how to make it taste good.  Really.

*Cathy was the most family oriented person in our family.  It was at her suggestion, most of the time, that we would have family functions.  She was at every family event, if it was at all possible with her health problems.  She only missed one family reunion in something like 25 years.  That is dedication.
