Christmas Happenings
Well, well, well.
How are all of you today? How was your Christmas? And all of your holidays? Are you as ready for it to all be over as much as I am? Now I will do a bit of a recap.
First let me say, thank you, thank you, thank you to Michelle Alley for the beautiful, beautiful quilt that she made me for my Pink Christmas! It is beyond what I ever thought I would get, and I love it! I sat with my cup of hot chocolate, my quilt, and my movies, and had a wonderful, relaxing time. And to top it off, smelly homemade soap! Love it! You are awesome and I totally loved everything!
Isn't this beautiful? It has little white buttons sewn all over it.
This picture is a little fuzzy, but still shows how beautiful it is.
Usually I spend a lot of time on baking during the Christmas season, but I just didn't get there this season. Instead, I was doing a lot of this:
I made these Christmas cards. I made a pocket and put three cards down in it. The cards had our family picture on the back one, our family update on the second card, and a card for a personal note on it in the front. I really loved doing it, but it was some amount of work. Like I said, I did this instead of baking.
These are the finished products. I must say, I thought they were quite cute, and now I'm wondering what I could possibly do for next year. Really.
I got this for my present this year:
That's right, I got a cricut for Christmas!! I'm telling you, I'm having a good time with this thing. Here's a little secret. It was on a great after Thanksgiving sale, and so I got it then. I had it and was actually using it a month before Christmas, as witnessed by the Very Cute Christmas Cards. If this were the only thing I got this year, I would have still had a wonderful Christmas. But I also got this:
My daddy, who loves me very much, gave me this great Stand Alone Mixer. I love it!! I make cookies or some kind of goodie every day, so this is just awesome! Lest you think that my mother had nothing to do with this, she allowed my dad to get it for me, because she doesn't think anyone should get appliances for Christmas. I'm thrilled to get this. It is making my life so much easier. Oh, so much easier.
My wonderful sons, one who is on a mission, gave me this wonderful chair. It is called a Parson's Chair and it fits in my room with my desk beautifully. I don't have to sit on a hard, metal chair anymore. I love it! I have been coveting it for quite some time. In fact, I have taken to introducing it to Terry every time we go to Walmart. "Terry, this is my chair. Chair, this is Terry. Some day I will be taking you home with me, and I want you to know someone there when I do." Of course, Terry thought I was out of my mind, but he did end up having the boys get my chair. It's all good.
My girls got me a Cricut Cartridge. It is for tags, bags and boxes. I've already made some pretty cute bags! I have some fun ideas for valentines day, so stay tuned! Too excited!
Christmas is always the same for us. We stay home for Santa to come, and then in the late morning, early afternoon, we go out to Terry's folks for more presents and dinner. All of the family is there, and it is always a lot of fun. After that, we came home for a little while, then went to visit my folks. It was a nice easy day, filled with lots of family, and love.
And least I forget, I got to talk to my missionary. He is doing good, still homesick. He talked to his dad, then me, then his brother, then each of the girls, right down to Tess. But when he got to Tess, she told him that Christmas just wasn't as fun without him, and that she missed him, and loved him. That got to him, and he started to get really emotional. That ended the call. But still he sounded great.
I hope you all had a great day also, and more updated to come.

Susan, your cards ARE incredible. We were all amazed when we opened them and studied them and studied them. They were really something, thank you.
Hooray for a cricut. I can think of no one that will put it to better use.
Hooray for the chair. "Terry, this is my chair. Chair, this is Terry. Some day I will be taking you home with me, and I want you to know someone there when I do" made me laugh. Good for you.
Oh. I didn't know A.J. was struggling with homesickness. That makes me sad for him. What a great kid.

Love the cards, by the way. I kept meaning to call you or something, but I don't remember that at good calling times. I love that mom & dad bought you a mixer - you SOOOOO needed it. I heard its the heavy duty super user one - so that's awesome. Love the cricut - I just got the Cuttlebug. It's for the old die cuts and embossing dies. The emossed stuff is pretty cool. Since I sold my old sizzix stuff, but still have a coulple of dies that I like, like my fish, I can now use it with this AND use the embossing dies. Check out my scrap gallary for the latest card with the emobossing. Hope you had a fantastic holiday. The boys bought something for Tess, but I had hid it with something else and forgot about it!!! We'll mail it one day!
