Yesterday and today, I watched the Pope give his speeches at the White House and at Congress today. As I listened to his halting English, I loved how he was bold, BOLD, and told people what they needed to do, instead of what they wanted to hear. There was no political correctness in what he was saying. But more than just listening to his words, I loved watching him. When you watched him, you could see the love he had for the people he was talking about; homeless, refugees, children, the poor. He was more comfortable, and happy, when he was driving in the his car, waving to the people on the street. It was beautiful to see. I believe wholeheartedly that this man is a man of God.
This had me thinking about our prophet, Thomas S. Monson. When I watch him, I also see the same love and happiness he feels by serving his fellow man. Both the prophet, and the Pope have the countenance that oozes love and confidence in what they are saying and doing. I love to just watch him, and his fun personality. And people, conference is coming. I can hardly wait.
President Monson isn't the only one I love to see and hear. I also love to hear from the apostles. It makes me sad that we will not be hearing from Pres. Packer, Elder Perry, and now Elder Scott. As I've been watching and hearing about the Pope, I've also been reflecting on the life and words of Elder Scott. He was also one that you could just feel the love he had for the people he served, even right through the tv screen. Such a beautiful soul.
I'm going to go back and listen to the Pope's speeches again. I was very moved by much of what he had to say. He basically told Congress to get it together and start working together, because when they fight against each other, the whole world suffers. From his mouth to their ears..... Let's hope for a better change.
You tell 'em, Pope Francis.
